How it plays

Monsters attack in waves, and each wave is harder than the last. Between and during attacks you move around the map collecting resources.

You do not press a separate key to gather or attack. Moving close enough to a resource collects it, and moving close enough to an enemy attacks it, so positioning is the main skill.

Resources are turned into items and gear upgrades that let you survive later waves. In the two-player mode a second player joins on the same computer, which makes it possible to split gathering and defending.

Tips for a first session

1.

Use the quiet time between waves to gather. Collecting during a fight splits your attention.

2.

Upgrade gear before the next wave rather than saving resources for later.

3.

Approach enemies one at a time where possible; getting surrounded is the quickest way to lose.

4.

With two players, agree that one gathers while the other guards.

Worth knowing

—

Poki’s short description of this game currently describes an aquarium simulator; the game itself, its full description and its controls are about defending against monsters.

—

Waves become demanding, so progress relies on upgrades as much as on reflexes.

—

The shared-screen two-player mode needs both players on the same device.
